Uzhunnu Bonda is a filling snack that can be served along with your evening tea or coffee.
1 cup urad dal/black gram
1 Onion (chopped finely)
2 green chillies (chopped finely)
A few curry leaves (chopped)
1/2 cup coriander leaves (chopped)
¼ teaspoon baking soda (optional)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
How To
Clean and soak the urad dal in water for 3-4 hours. Drain the urad dal and grind it to a smooth paste without adding water. Mix this paste thoroughly with chopped onion, green chillies, curry leaves, coriander leaves and baking soda.
Heat the oil in a deep bottomed pan. Keep a bowl of cold water ready. Wet your hands with this water. Take a small portion of the batter and shape it into a ball. Slip this ball into the hot oil and fry till golden. Repeat the process till the batter is over. Drain the bondas on paper towels. Serve these uzhunnu bondas hot with tea/coffee.
