Canned Tuna Stir Fry

Canned Tuna Stir Fry, Linuskitchen.com, Linu Freddy

I have fond memories of this dish from mom. During the peak monsoon season, regular supply of fresh fish is limited in Lakshadweep (where I spent the first 18 years of my life) and everybody had to rely on canned tuna for their seafood needs. That is how this tuna stir fry became a staple at our home with both rice and roti!

Ingredients
1 tin/180gm canned tuna (I used tuna chunks in oil)
1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 onion (sliced finely)
1 teaspoon ginger (chooped finely)
2-3 green chillies (slit)
2 stalks of curry leaves
1-2 teaspoon pepper powder (depending on your spice level)
Salt to taste
2 tablespoon oil

How To Make Tuna Stir Fry
Drain the oil completely from the tuna chunks. Keep aside.

Heat the oil in a non stick pan. Splutter mustard seeds. Add onions, ginger, green chilli and curry leaves till onions start to brown. Add pepper powder and salt and saute for a couple of minutes. Stir in the tuna and saute for 8-10 minutes on low flame till the tuna is done and browned. Serve this yum tuna stir fry with rotis or rice. You can also use this as a sandwich/wrap filling.
