Vellari Moru Curry

A simple yet tasty dish, Vellari Moru Curry can be made in a jiffy.
1 cup vellari/cucumber
1 cup water
1 cup curd
½ cup coconut (grated)
2 garlic cloves
2 button onions (sliced)
3 green chillies
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
¼ teaspoon cumin seeds
Salt to taste

For Seasoning
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
2 button onions (sliced)
A few curry leaves
1 teaspoon coconut oil


How To
Cut cucumber into small pieces. Cook cucumber, salt, turmeric powder and green chillies in 1 cup water. Beat the curd and keep aside. Grind together coconut, cumin seeds, onion and garlic. Add this ground mix and curd to the cucumber and cook on low flame for 5 minutes. Remove from fire. In a separate pan, heat the oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add onion and curry leaves and sauté till golden brown. Pour this seasoning into the curry. Serve vellari moru curry with red rice.
